I obviously wan't around back that long ago to know how hot they got but it could mean a possible motor rebuild. This fan is rare. It is 90 degrees here so it could be part of but the metal around motor gets quite hot after running for 15 minutes. I acquired this fan which was inoperable at the time.

I got it to operate but the off low medium and high switch doesn't work. I have searched for hours this fan online and come up with very little. The fan shroud is dented in a couple spots but it oscillates and blows as should besides the speed selection switch.
