I will bend over backwards to make sure that you are a happy customer, prior and after purchase. All our tubes have been tested for. If you don't like the sound of a tube, so long as it is still in same condition arrived message me. NOS tubes fall within the Gm characteristic range of an average tube, as published in RCA RECEIVING TUBE MANUAL, which states Individual tubes, like any manufactured product, may have characteristics that above or below values given.
It can be wiped off and destroyed VERY easily. 90 % of our tubes are Tv7 tested, tv7 is Calibrated and go to tester. Shorts/ leaks. Looking for something else and want to save on shipping.
There is nothing wrong with performing that noise test however. Send me a message. This is a very marginal test, only for special checking. This test needs sound amplification; hearing / listening to noise with headphones would indicate a real disaster inside tube THE shorts WOULD already BE evidence OF THIS.
Tubes test NOS. Sound quality is tremendously SUBJECTIVE. The best way is to calculate the GM - and check data sheet for each tube a nos should typically measure between average maximum micrometers GM. Tubes do not give the same reading across testers - even model tester will a different sometimes.
Tube tester NOISE TEST. Military standards were tubes needed to meet 60/65% which they established as minimum value. Noise and Micro phonics are often buzzwords for other issues. In properly designed circuits objectionable tube noise is seldom found.
There is a small percentage of tubes that have problem with noise but far less than most people think. Please see my notes on noise tests below. Always check the data sheet of tube you plan to use. PLEASE message me BEFORE you open a return.
These tubes have been tested - and are considered NOS ; they meet or exceed the published data set for GM. Some testers do have noise test jacks that connect to either headphones or the antenna/ground terminals of an AM radio. Tv7 tested TUBES. The tv7 tester has been around a long time and is trusted for military, who had high standards reliable tubes that would not fail in critical conditions.
There isn't a specific indicator or result data set anywhere that universally designates vacuum tube as new old stock when using tester nor for what test is given. Hence, most people advertising tubes as tested for Noise or Micro phonics are probably NOT testing them in any meaningful way FOR YOU OR YOUR AMP. Test Results are ALWAYS available upon request if not photographed. I DO NOT OFFER A TUBE ROLLING SERVICE, vintage audio tubes typically require a burn in period, that's where the tube sounds best.
