The unit is completely self contained and ready to operate when connected to a power source. Sufficient gain is provided to operate the cartridge with a standard radio receiver or audio amplifier. The upx 003b preamp was designed to be used with variable reluctance cartridges. I have described the item to the best of my ability and do not intend to misrepresent.

This piece was formerly used with a broadcast radio turntable setup. There's a 1/4 plug teased out, and the ac power was soldered on to a point beneath the desk perhaps right at the turntable.
